Time off

I've only had one day of freedom so far, and I already feel like I'm going to go nuts if I don't find something to do. I suppose it's because my time was being taken up by schoolwork, as well as art in my free time. Now I have all sorts of great ideas and no way to work out a schedule because I'm not in school. I'll sit down to paint, and I'll suddenly go into panic-mode because I feel like I have assignments to do. Argh! I hope I get this nonsense settled before my vacation is over...

On another note, today I fell down the stairs and whacked my elbow really hard. It's been about 8 hours now, and the side of my hand is still tingly. I have some bruises on my back and my tailbone is a little sore, but I still start laughing like a maniac when I remember WHY I fell down the stairs.
I fell down the stairs because I was having a Science! day (basically my excuse for wearing a lab coat around the house) and I discovered that if you stick your earbuds in your nostrils and open your mouth you get an awesome stereo.
Please don't ask me how I figured that out...
Anyway, I figured that sharing is caring so I went downstairs to share my groundbreaking discovery with my dad when I lost my footing and slipped down the stairs (See: http://www.youtube.com/user/DudeCrushClaws?feature=guide#p/f/29/KedGncdV-T4 ). I then proceeded to laugh my ass off, scaring the hell out of my very concerned father, and making me laugh even harder.

I can't laugh at his reaction too much, though. I blacked out the last time I fell down a staircase. I couldn't see or hear anything, but my body picked itself up (and I think was muttering to my dad and my sister) and continued walking towards the next flight of stairs. Luckily, my hearing started coming back and I could vaguely hear people yelling my name and a really loud ringing; my eyesight also started coming back, first in gray-scale, then slowly filtering in as color bubbles. Very luckily, this happened just as I as put one foot down on the next step, thus preventing another fall down another flight of stairs. In conclusion, I am very grateful that my dad is a concerned parent and I try very hard not to scare him.
I could tell a bunch of other fun stories, but this is not "Crazy Ass Injuries and Stuff," so I will leave it be for now. :p

These pictures are from 2008, which would put me at 14-15 years old. This is still the upside-down sketchbook, but I guess I was having another one of my "Holy crap! What year is it?!" moments when I started this thing because some earlier pages say Nov. 2007, but the rest say Nov. 2008. Derp.

Everyone has a bad day!

MegaMan looks like a turtle, IMO. A cute turtle, nonetheless.

A drawing of InuYasha from memory. Possibly one of my favorites in this book.

Quite a difference from the first one, eh?

My least-favorite-navigator, Pallette. The bird in her hair is a nice touch!

Teapot. This was likely a teapot belonging to one of the studio's members who left it lying around.

IT CAN SEE INTO YOUR SOUL!
Enjoy!

Finished!

One exam down, two more to go.
Have a Harpuia!
TA-DA!
Sorry for some of the color bleeding. This paper really is not suitable for marker use :(
On another note, look at that cool see-through effect! Woop woop!

I'm so tired I could die. Too bad I'm going to spend the rest of my life day studying.

200 chickens

THAT is a lot of KFC.
Yes, that's true. However, I was eating feeding my neighbor's chickens for her while she was gone. The first day sucked, the second day was slightly better, and by the third day I finally had a routine down.
Today... today was different.
I entered the barn through the dairy. The lights were on.
"Huh," I thought to myself, "that's strange. But no biggie. Carrying on!"
So I wandered into the main part of the very dark barn, and tried to find the power strip that controls the lights. Well find it I did, much, much higher than I left it, and, being 5'2, it is not generally in my best interest to put things up where I can barely reach them! I pressed the button, voila, the lights go on. But so does the milk hose!
I turned the freakin' thing off before something could have happened, which meant, of course, that the lights went off, too. I stood still to let my eyes adjust.
All was silent.
I turned.
She scared the hell out of me! ;-;
Apparently my neighbor had come home this morning, and my mom failed to inform me of her arrival. Anyone who knows me well knows that I can be a little jumpy sometimes. I'm just glad I don't have any super powers, because kid, I'm tellin' ya, she would have been toast before I'd even register who it was!

Okay, on to the pictures!
That horse is making me want to use versatile wax sticks crayons again.

Hippo-face and purple hair guy.

Accel and cool pose guy.

The left side creeps me out o.O  The right side is kind of cool, though!

Wall climbing to practice a bird's eye view.

A successful dinner!

Basically what the title says. The only downside to this evening would be the apple pie. Lawdy, I love me some apple pie. Sadly, this pie tastes horrible. Like burned zombie carcass or something not that I would know what that tastes like...
Anyway, this batch of pictures is the last of my second 2006 sketchbook. Huzzah!

Practice with charcoal. You'd think cats would be simple to draw, but they are quite difficult for me :/

I am American born and raised. I've never once celebrated the 4th of July, because we were always in Canada for July. Oops.

Accel at the beach. Skipping stones across the tiny waves has always been relaxing for me. *nostalgia*

I seriously wish this thing was real. Land chasers are awesome.

Still trying to develop my own style... This is nice and crisp, though. I might revisit this someday.

Hoss hoss hoss. Yup.
And that's-
Wait, what's this? A current picture? Are you kidding me?!
SWEET JEEBUS! NEW ART DOES EXIST!
This is Accelera. She's also a robot (look at the eyes...spooky), because I am creative like that. I might refine this a bit more, but who knows, I might just leave the picture the way it is!

T-minus 16 hours...

... Until we have American Thanksgiving! We've been cleaning and cooking all day in order to have a proper Thanksgiving with some of our Canadian friends. It will be quite a bit of fun!
I'm trying to get my chemistry and biology assignments done before the meal, but I seem to be suffering an acute art-attack. Every time I sit down in front of my computer to do some work, I end up moving it aside and pulling out my sketchbook instead. As a result, I have been abnormally productive art-wise, and sadly lacking in the science department. Can't say that's a bad thing, though!

Based on official MMX Command Mission art. Fun fact: the scarf in this picture glows in the dark!

Sorting out hairstyles from various sources.

My favorite part of this? Baby Signas. :3

Dynamo, Vile, and Lumine: the three coolest, baddest villains. Just sayin'.

Title of this was "English Pig-Dog." I'm quite fond of this odd creature.

Practice inking. Freehand from official MMX8 art.

More practice inking. Freehand based on official MMX art. I love how crisp the lines are!
So there's your update! Hope y'all have a good night, ya hear?!

It feels so late.

It is 10:01 on a Friday. I am WIPED OUT. Truly. If I wasn't afraid that I'd fall asleep with the brush in my hand, I'd work on my current painting some more. Alas, I am a tired, tired creature, and after I post this entry, I am going to bed.
Start of 2nd 2006 sketchbook (brown)! I started this one 6/3/06, only a few months after the previous book. Here we go:
First time drawing a dragon. This was done with sepia India ink and a quill.

Friendly neighborhood MegaMan X. For such a simple design, he is a horror to draw correctly -.-

Dragon #2. A big improvement over the first one!

I've mentioned this before, but my mom used to teach art lessons. This was supposed to be practice with textures.

I've always been a natural art critic!

Schnuuding

It snowed quite a bit last night. This, of course is not unusual for November on PEI. What was unusual was how nice the fall was up until this point. In fact, the beautiful weather is supposed to return this weekend. Very odd indeed.
Oh yes, I nearly forgot:
Happy Thanksgiving, Motherland! We're having our American-style turkey day on Sunday. Mm-hm.

I like the shading in this picture. Does having three swords count as overkill?

Axl and Zero, goofing around.

Can't exactly remember the story behind this one, but Accel adopts a kid somehow. >.>

This was pretty neat. I used a calligraphy set to ink this trio. I only wish their poses weren't so stiff!
Two of my favorite baddies, Sesshomaru and Itachi.
This is actually the end of my (yellow) 2006 sketchbook. There's no need to be all disappointed, though! I found another 2006 sketchbook (brown) in my cottage the other day.
Prepare yourselves!

Mmmmm... Chicken...

My chickens are pretty cool. Yup. When I go out in the morning and yell "CHICKENS! ASSEMBLE!" Bill and Ted bust out of the front door of the coop like deranged dinosaur ninjas.
Because they can.

Awesome.

Trying out new styles. It is perfectly okay to have style-ADD, even as an "established" artist. It keeps things interesting!

Slouchy guy. Yup.

Some MMX Command Mission fanart. Freehand.

Some MMX8 fanart. Notice that Lumine looks nowhere near as evil as he should...

Practice with crosshatching as a texture.

I love all of my awesome stats I had planned for Accel. I'm just SO glad I never wrote any fanfiction!

I have a tendency to keep my light source on the left. This picture always pops out to me because of that subtle difference!

Into 2006

My 2006 sketchbook has quite a bit of content, despite finishing it in about 3 months. Oh, to have the time and energy to draw 1.1 pictures a day.
Here goes:
Quite a difference from the 2005 cat sketches!

My fan characters Accel (you know, like acceleration), and Slate (the Zero rip haha).

Trying realism.

These were preliminary drawings for the State Flower Show. The theme was "Under The Sea" for the youth.

Still my favorite weapon from MMX8.
This sketchbook is a good example of development. You'll see how much the style has changed from the beginning to the end. (start: 1/20/06; end: 4/3/06)
Looking at the differences in this sketchbook made me curious as to why my 2005 book was fairly uniform. Then I took a look at the start and end dates: 7/20/05... to 7/31/05.
I died. 100 pictures in 11 days.
Nine pictures a day.
I'm taking back my "1.1 pictures a day" comment. JEEBUS.
I don't think I can wrap my head around that D:
