2012 ATC Swap

We had a local Artist Trading Card event in August. I spent a lot of time making all of my cards by hand. Imagine my disappointment when hordes of hipsters showed up with sets of "ironic" cards that obviously took them less than an hour to make.

Oh well. At least it made people appreciate my cards more. Here are some of this years cards:

The top half of my display table.

The whole shebang.

Thanks for your patience.

I seem to have misplaced some of my sketchbooks during the move. I hope I find them soon :<
Anyway, I will soon start scanning a sketchbook that I began in December 2010. I haven't started yet, so you'll have to be content with these few loose-paper pictures from earlier in 2010.
A Saddlebred. Unfortunately, the page was too wide for the scanner, so the ears got lopped off.

Definitely need work with proportions.

MegaMan Zero is property of Capcom.

Busy busy busy

Hi everyone! At the moment I am at the cottage.
"Why, how is she on the internet at the cottage? Cottages don't have internet!"
Well, my dear friends, it is because I have moved  out of my house and into the cottage. And, in September, I will be moving into a new house.
I am very excited! Unfortunately, as my scanner is packed away, this will likely be my last post until we finally do move into the new place, but we are not strangers to waiting forever for new posts, now, are we? >.>

These are the final pictures from this sketchbook from 2010:

Fun with inks. I'd like to try another one like this someday.

Marker color studies. I especially like the horses.

A whole whack of faces.

What is?

Belgians! Did you notice that I actually tried to create a background?
I am slowly but surely catching up to my current books. The next set will be an assortment of non-bound pictures from 2010.

Newsy

Quite a bit has happened since the last time I posted, which was actually not too long ago (*pats self on back*). Cheyenne is not having a foal, she was just really fat. Willie was gelded. My sister came home from Geneva. My cat was hit by a car, but after having surgery on his badly broken arm, he should be okay. Etc, etc.
Busy times.
I've also temporarily moved to the cottage, which means no internet for me.
If you are wondering how I posted this, my answer is as follows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSf9aEETnvE

Ahem. During my time at the cottage, I have been very productive art-wise. Alas! The day that I scan in my current sketchbook is a ways away. So you will have to bide your time with the following old-stuff. Yup.
An attempt at sketching the visiting cruise ship with an old crayon. I kind of like the kids-book feel this picture has.

A picture done for an English project. I had an extremely limited color-palette to work with, which explains the over-zealous use of black for shading.

Sketch of a Buddha statue.

Scribbley cow. It's sort of charming in its own way.

Fanart of Crona from the manga/anime SoulEater, which was my obsession at the time.

My trip was great!

And now that I am home for a few weeks, I figured I should get my butt in gear and start posting again.
Thank you for your patience!

I'm not sure if I've said this before, but cats are very difficult for me to draw!

Fanart. It's because of pieces like this that I am envious of people who draw digitally. Markers just don't provide the same effects!

Purple platypus for my friend Robyn.

Despite being a piece of fanart, I am still very proud of this. The scan doesn't do it justice.

Hoss.

Hurg.

Hey buddies!
Long time no see.
LONG TIME.
I apologize. I have no excuse except for laziness and lack of an available scanner at my current location. As such, I will now present you with a crappy webcam picture of my current little piece.
I'm still waiting for the watercolors to dry before continuing. I started using watercolors again last summer as an experiment. I really enjoy them, but the amount of patience they require is very taxing on me. I usually have to have another sketchbook open to keep myself busy while the paint dries.

9 days until Europe!

Holy Frijoles!

What is this madness?
What is it?!
...
Oh, whew. It's only an update. Nothing to be afraid of folks (unless you're a critic >:/ ); I come in peace!

In all seriousness, though, I'm sorry about my unexplained hiatus.
There's no explanation for it.

So! On to the pictures:

This is one of my all-time favorites, which was displayed at the 2010 Arts Coffee House for Bluefield. Pen&Ink, watercolor pencil, and pastel.

This is now in the possession of my aunt. I mostly like the shadowing in the background.

Pencil drawing of a Swedish diplomat (?).

This one is interesting, but I wish I had put more definition into the background. Human anatomy is still kind of difficult for me.

This is also in my aunt's possession. I finally realized what it is that throws me off in this picture... The horse has no forelock!

The semester is nearly over. I do hope to update more regularly now, but life happens sometimes. Once I get school squared away, I should be all set for preparing updates and enjoying some free time. I'm looking forward to it!
